Patrick Tolbert – New Media Specalist

Hi. I’m Patrick and I’m a multimedia journalist. I specialize in the operation  of, strategy behind and design of  TV news websites.

I’m a diehard Baylor Bear and I’m already looking forward to next year’s football team. I love to sing, write code and cook. And I have an unusually large collection of ties. I made my first website using HTML when I was 10 and haven’t quit since.

I spend my days at KXXV-DT as the New Media Content Director where I report local news on KXXV.com.  My primary workload consists of content creation – be it breaking news,  special sales content or simple everyday news. I also coordinate how we cover stories online, juggling text, video and images. I enjoy being paid to tweet , “Facebook” and otherwise wrangle social media.

When I’m not at work, my mind is probably not far from it. It’s not uncommon to find me sitting on the couch, logged into our content management system. When I’m not coding the latest widget or posting new content from home, I’m on the Ham Radio where I’m known as KE5ZOG. I thouroughly taking part in the time honored Texas tradition of grilling; there is simply nothing better than standing around a grill with friends watching a prime steak cook.

I stay quite busy at church where I sing  Tenor in the chancel choir and  have recently become a youth group leader. I also chair the awareness committee that, in the good Presbyterian way, will have many meetings before attempting to redesign the website.
